Storms amaze me! What amazes me even more, is our Creator! Whenever I'm afraid in the storm I sing, "When I am afraid, I will trust in You, I will trust in You, I will trust in You; when I am afraid I will trust in You; in God alone I pray." We cannot control the storms; but God is in control of everything!
God has a purpose for everything he does, even though it may not seem like it. Whenever I'm in a storm, I try to make a bad situation into a good one. I like to remind myself that God made the rain, thunder, and the lightning. Whenever I hear thunder I always imagine that God is bowling. It helps with the fear:) A little while ago, there was a storm headed our way. I am just amazed at how powerfully terrifying our Creator is.
You know the saying, "Calm before the storm"? Well, let me tell you this...it was so calm that every single sense of mine came to life.
I felt a different fear that I'd never felt before and I also felt terribly amazed at God's wonders.
It wasn't dark out but a hazily grey. It felt like I was in a dark place because there was literally no wind, no noise, no nothing. But in the distance you could see a small patch a lightning, brightening up every few seconds.
Then just as if I had realized I had been standing in the snow without shoes, all my senses perked up as the tornado sirens turned on. It was quiet for but a moment but then that long wail of the sirens came from several different neighborhoods
I didn't know what to feel; the feeling was so terrible and wonderful at the same time.
God is truly amazing! He controls the weather. He controls EVERYTHING!
It reminded me of, "Be still, and know that I Am God."
I'm thinking on writing a book called 'Before The Storm', just to show people how truly amazing, wonderful, and majestic God is! There aren't enough words to describe our Creator.
Driving into a storm
An awesome cloud:)
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." Proverbs 18:10
"Be still and know that I am God..." Psalm 46:10
I really like the panorama setting
"Hear attentively the thunder of His voice, And the rumbling that comes from His mouth." Job 37:2
This picture reminds me of when Jesus was on the cross and the sky grew as dark as night. It was actually around 11:00 am when I took this picture.
You should write a book, Sar! I'd love to read it. :) Recently we were driving and stuck in a storm/possible tornado conditions. It reminded me of things we've been studying in Jonah. How comforting it is to know that our Heavenly Father is in control! Wow, He is all-powerful and knows what He's doing. <3
ReplyDeleteThis was such a great post, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteStorms can be so frightening at times, but like you said, we just have to trust in our God, the Creator of all things. He will keep us safe. :) :) :)
Thank you again! That was very encouraging! Have a splendid day!

I LOVED this post. Your words are so wonderful and your pictures are so. . .scary yet wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOnce I also experienced a tornado alarm and the verse "Be still and know that I am God." came to my mind and I was comforted. :) I can understand what you are talking about!
Looking back over your pictures, they do look rather intimidating. ☺
